TYRRELL FAMILY

[Harold T. Cornforth sent me a wonderful packet of documentation on this family.  Included were many documents which I have transcribed below, as well as added some other census years.]

Federal Census - 1850.  Hadley, Massachusetts, enumerated on 8th day of August 1850.  James Tyrrell, 20 years, male, Broom Maker, place of birth Ireland.

Town Clerk, Nov 3, 1853 - Hadley, Massachusetts - Mr. James Tyrrell of Hadley and Miss Bridget Carney of Hadley intend marriage.

Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Copy of Record of Birth, Town of Hadley - Birth of Ann Tyrell (Tyril on record).  Date of birth, Sept. 10, 1854 in Hadley.  Name of Child, Ann Tyrell (Tyril), female, white.  Father:  James Tyrell (Tyril), resident of Hadley, place of birth Ireland, occupation broommaker.  Mother:  Bridget, resident of Hadley, place of birth Ireland.  Date of record January 1855.  Year 1854, vol 2, page 6, no. 21.

Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Copy of Record of Birth, Town of Hadley - Birth of Thomas Tyrrill (Tyrell).  Date of birth, Sept. 15, 1855 in Hadley.  Name of Child, Thomas Tyrrill (Tyrell), male, white.  Father:  James Tyrrill (Tyrell), resident of Hadley, place of birth Ireland, occupation broommaker.  Mother:  Bridget, resident of Hadley, place of birth Ireland.  Date of record Jan. 1856.  Year 1855, vol 2, page 8, no. 32.

Federal Census - 1860.  Marysville, California, enumerated on 9th day of July 1860.  James Tyrrell, 35 years, male, Hostler, value of real estate 250.

Marysville Weekly Appeal - Jul 8, 1871, page 3, col 3 - DIED:  On the 20th inst., in this city, Bridget Tyrel, wife of James Tyrel, aged 38 years, a native of Ireland.

Marysville Daily Appeal - Jan. 6, 1875, page 2, col 3 - MARRIED:  In this city, December 29th, F. B. Crane to Miss Annie Tyrrell, all of this city.

Federal Census - 1900.  3rd Street, Marysville Twp, California, enumerated 22 Jun 1900, sheet 18A.  Sadie Tyrell, head, Jan. 187?, ?y, single, CA, Ire, Ire, book-keeper. - James C., father, Jan. 1833, 67y, widow, Ire, Ire, Ire, Book-keeper. - Jesse, sister, Mar 1872, 28y, marr or div?, 1y, no children, CA, Ire, Ire, saleswoman drygds.

Marysville Daily Appeal - Dec. 31, 1908, page 1, col 4.  JAMES TYRRELL PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY - Father of Constable Tyrrell Lived in Marysville Half a Century.  James Tyrrell, father of Constable Thomas Tyrrell and Mrs. F. B. Crane, Mrs. C. O. Brooks, Misses Mary, Tena and Sadie Tyrrell, died yesterday at his home at 207 1/2 Third street in this city.  Death came as a result of old age and a general breaking down of the system. - Mr. Tyrrell was a native of Ireland, aged 79 years.  He came to this country, arriving in New York, in the year 1847.  In 1856 he arrived in Marysville and had been a constant resident of this city up to the time of his death, making his home here for over half a century. - He had been in ill health and infirm for over a year, but had been confined to his bed for only three months.  In former years he conducted a stage stable on Third street and was well and favorably known throughout this section of the state. - The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday and services will be held at the Catholic church.  [James is buried at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Marysville.]

Marysville Appeal Democrat - Mar. 24, 1941, page 2, col 6.  RETIRED MARYSVILLE CONSTABLE PASSES - Thomas J. Tyrrell, constable in Marysville for 26 years, retiring several years ago, died at his home on Fourth street at 1 a.m. Monday, at the age of 85 years.  He had been in failing health for some time.  Tyrell [sic] owned valuable residential properties along Fourth street. - Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Tyrrell, and two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Brooks and Miss Mary Tyrrell, all of Marysville. - Funeral services are being arranged through Lipp & Sullivan, to be announced later.

Marysville Appeal Democrat - Mar. 29, 1947, page 1, col 1 - MARY TYRRELL DIES - Mary Tyrrell, 87, of 411 H street, died yesterday in Rideout hospital, after a long illness.  A native of Marysville, she is survived by a niece, Mary Jane Cornforth, of San Francisco.  Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday in Lipp & Sullivan chapel.  Formal mass will be held in St. Joseph's church at 8:15 a.m. Monday, and interment is scheduled for the Holy Cross cemetery in San Francisco.

[Source unknown]  MRS. ANNA CRANE PIONEER RESIDENT CALLED BY DEATH - The passing of Mrs. Anna M. Crane, widow of the late F. B. Crane, at the family home in this city last night, after an illness of but two days from which she never rallied, marks the loss of one of Marysville's most respected citizens. - She was born in East Hadley, Mass, coming when a child to California in 1856.  She was a kind and generous woman always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.  She was a devoted mother, and beside a host of loving friends, she leaves to mourn her demise Mrs. George Stall, Mrs. Harold Cornforth, Mrs. Mabel Scott, F. B. Crane, Clara Crane, and her sisters, Miss Mary Tyrrell, Miss Tessie Tyrrell of San Francisco, Mrs. Kathryn Brooks, and a brother, Thomas J. Tyrrell. - Kelly Brothers have charge of the funeral arrangements.  Announcements later.
