Our Churches and Their Pastors

Mt. Olivet Baptist Church

There are two colored congregations in this city, and they both have churches.  The Baptist church, located on Sixth, between D and E streets, was erected in 1856.  Although they have about forty members, they have no pastor at the present time, and Deacon G. W. Wilson officiates.  There are two societies with the church, the Aid Society and the Christian Endeavor Society; they have also a Sunday School.

They hold prayer meeting every Wednesday evening, also at 11 o'clock Sunday morning, the Sunday School being after the prayer meeting.  The Christian Endeavor Society meet at 7:30 in the evening.

    Sandy Clark, B. E. Robinson, A. D. Wall, H. S. Clay, D. N. Harris and Charles Blackwell are Trustees.
