Meridian Cemetery
The Meridian Cemetery is just south of the town of Meridian on Meridian Road. Take Hwy 20 from Yuba City/Marysville toward Sutter, Colusa and Meridian. You will see a turn off toward Sutter (Acacia Road). Continue on Hwy. 20 for 8.2 more miles and there will be a left turn off the highway onto Central Street. Turn left onto Central Street and drive to the end of that road, which is 0.9 miles (you will go through one stop sign and at the second one the road ends). Turn left on Meridian Road and the cemetery is 0.4 miles.
When you see an 'X' in the column for photos, that means that the previous information was verified according to a new reading of the stone and checked with online death records. I have found so many errors and omissions (even of old stones) from the original transcription online that I felt strongly about surveying this one in person and correcting what I could! This cemetery list began with only 668 persons in April '06.
As of 9/25/2006, I now have 927 names on the list from walking and photographing this cemetery. The list is complete as far as I know and all visible photos are done.
***There are two sections to this cemetery - one across the road from the other. In order to distinguish which stones and photos are in which area, I am indicating the smaller older section on the right hand side of the road as "a" and the one on the left side of the road as "b".
