Lofton Cemetery

This cemetery is located on what was once the Francis Lofton ranch in the town of Erle. Erle ceased to exist when Camp Beale (now Beale Air Force Base) was built. This cemetery is included in Wheatland Cemetery District, but is not included in their maintenance.

Lofton Cemetery is located off of Hwy 65 north of Wheatland, very close to the rear boundaries of Beale AFB. Going north on Hwy. 65, turn right at the sign for Beale AFB-S. Beale Rd. Go 2.7 miles and turn right on Ostrom Road. The paved road ends after 1.9 miles. Continue on the gravel road about 1.4 miles until you come to a "Y", in which the road appears to double back to the left - take this left road. Continue on until you see the cemetery back on a hill on the right, shortly after passing a house on the left side of the road. There will be two gates to go through.
